Don't waste food!

by Miguel Martins on July 17, 2019

Did you stop to think about how much food is wasted?

Hunger is not justified by the lack of food in the world. According to the New York Times, we waste 1.3 billion tons of food a year globally. We produce enough food for everyone, but approximately 1/3 is wasted. In most cases, this happens in our kitchen when we prepare meals and do not eat them entirely. How many times have you let the food rot in the fridge?

If food waste were a country, it would be the world's third largest producer of carbon dioxide, after the United States and China.

In other cases, food waste is in agriculture. To give you an idea, in South Asia, half of cauliflower production is considered a loss, because there is a lack of access to technical means and insufficient cooling.

It doesn't stop there, supermarkets want perfect fruits and vegetables. You must have noticed the supermarket islands with shiny apples that appeal to fresh, more attractive and tasty food. All those foods that look like bad examples are immediately thrown away.

As consumers, we create bad eating habits, eventually falling into this purchase manipulation. The result is the continuation of this retail behavior by placing products on the shelves that reflect the consumer's ambitious standards.

There have been several responses to food waste. While some focus on reducing overall food waste, others find innovative ways to channel that waste into something productive.

It is difficult to find an ideal solution, but we can have behaviors that can help to reduce that number. One of the advantages of consuming Mondays is knowing exactly what amounts of nutrients and ingredients you are consuming. To consume a Mondays meal, you don't need to throw away any portion or worry about eating leftovers for the next few days before it breaks down. We promote the fight against the problem of food waste through a complete and functional meal, with a long shelf life. We are the first to warn that we must maintain a balanced diet and therefore a Mondays-based diet is something we do not recommend. We will not replace what you eat, but offer a great alternative

The time has come to look at food with different eyes and that's what we did when we created Mondays. To reach our basic recipe, we take into account what you normally consume daily, as well as the quantities of products you buy. Now you can find everything in a small package, with all the essential nutrients.

Makes you think, doesn't it?
